A trip around Lewiston–Clarkston and a drive out of the Valley can put different demands on your vehicle. Plan around the route and use you expect.
- Check the maintenance schedule. Review oil and filter service, coolant requirements, battery condition, tires, lights, and wipers using your vehicle’s manual.
- Confirm the specified oil. Use the permitted viscosity and performance specifications for your engine and expected temperatures. A seasonal change is a good time to check fitment.
- Account for hard use. Tell Steve about towing, hauling, extended idling, or frequent short trips when discussing a service plan.
- Keep a service record. Note the date, mileage, oil, filter, and next service due before the busy season.
Diesel: prepare before the fuel clouds.
Diesel Cold Flow is a preventive treatment. AMSOIL says to add it before refueling while the fuel is above its cloud point—the temperature where wax begins to form. It does not reverse gelling after wax crystals have formed.
Match the label’s treatment rate to the fuel quantity and expected conditions. Use your equipment maker’s fuel and filter guidance. If fuel has already gelled, consult the equipment instructions and AMSOIL’s separate emergency-treatment guidance before attempting recovery.

Gasoline equipment: make a storage plan.
Before parking a mower, motorcycle, boat, or other seasonal equipment, read its storage instructions. Follow the manufacturer’s fuel-system procedure and use a stabilizer only as directed for that equipment.
AMSOIL Gasoline Stabilizer is intended to slow fuel deterioration and deposit formation during storage in compatible two- and four-stroke gasoline engines. Measure the dose from the current label. It is a gasoline product; choose fuel-specific guidance for diesel equipment.
- Complete any oil and filter service called for in the equipment’s storage procedure.
- Follow the manufacturer’s battery-care and storage-location instructions.
- Record the storage date and fuel treatment, and keep a restart checklist with the equipment.
